WMSR is Miami University’s one and only all student run radio station.
We play everything from new indie rock and acoustic world beats to soul, mash-ups, hip-hop… and like we said everything in between.
Our news department is revved up and ready to deliver great public affairs programming to keep you up to speed on campus events, news, and local issues that matter.
And our sports department is relied upon by Miami sports fans across the nation to bring the action to their internet stream wherever they are.
We’ve been hard at work blasting great stuff from Williams Hall since the 80’s. |

Board Members (UPDATES IN PROGRESS)
General Manager, Mike Cohen: As General Manager of WMSR, Mike works with the board to make sure everything at WMSR runs smoothly and caters to the needs of Miami students. Mike is also a broadcaster for WMSR sports, doing play-by-play and color for RedHawk Football, Hockey, Basketball, and Baseball. Mike was also an analyst for WMSR/MUTV’s RedHawk rally program, aired twice last year. This will be Mike’s 8th year of broadcasting dating back to his freshman year of high school. This is also the second station in which Mike has been the General Manager. Mike loves sports, the outdoors, and trivia. He is an environmental science and zoology major, and will graduate in the spring of 2010. If you want to be involved with the station or have any ideas, please contact him at any time. |

Business Manager, Emmy Finnell: Emmy is a Junior and recently became a Communications major. As the Business Manager, she takes care of making sure everyone pays dues, everything we buy is something we need, and that we are completely legal in the eyes of the U.S. Government. Emmy is a fun-loving, eccentric girl who loves watching SpongeBob Squarepants, hates BBQ potato chips, and is addicted to Crystal Light. Emmy also prides herself in knowing the lyrics to 99% of the 10,000 songs on her iPod and being able to do a perfect (but not fast) butterfly (it’s a swimming stroke). Emmy also DJs her own show on WMSR called “Almost Famous.” The show mostly highlights local bands and invites them to come on the show to play some live music or answer some burning questions from their fans (e-mail me if you want to come in, or know of someone who might be interested!!!). If Emmy isn’t in the WMSR office or studio, you may find her swimming, painting, reading, or fighting sharks (they terrify her). |

Sports Director, Patrick Murray: Patrick is returning in 2009-2010 for a third year as WMSR’s Sports Director. As the head of the Sports Department, he is charged with coordinating all of the station’s live sports broadcasts, in addition to scheduling the sports shows that are broadcast from WMSR’s Williams Hall studios. A senior, he began his journey in sports broadcasting by providing color commentary for Miami’s hockey team during his freshman year. Last year, he supplied both play by play and color for Miami’s Football, Hockey, Men’s Basketball, and Baseball teams, as the sports department increased its live broadcast total to over two dozen, up from zero the previous year. Outside of WMSR, Patrick spends his time playing his guitars and rooting (with some level of disappointment) for the Chicago Cubs. |

Music Director, Evy Duskey: Evy (Eh-vie) enjoys the fine WMSR board position of Music Director along with her esteemed partner in crime Colin Ackerman. Their job, collectively, is to make sure that WMSR plays groovy tunes at all times by communicating with promoters, charting tracks, updating the rotation and setting up interviews. This process is generally outlined in the “Flowchart O’Fun,” as designed by previous WMSR Music Director and always friend, Eric O’Bryant.
In her free time Evy can be found organizing CDs and vinyl (both the station’s and her own), dancing while she eats, and getting a bit too intense over Scrabble games. Some of her other favorite things in life are her giraffe chopsticks, her books, and her self-stirring mug. She also has a radio show “Mixed Media” which specializes in the broadcasting of a different personalized “mix-tape” by request every week. |
Music Director, Colin Ackerman: Colin is a Communications major hailing from Phoenix, MD (not Arizona), which is of course a suburb just North of Baltimore where he is the second oldest (or fifth youngest) of six kids. He is one-half of an elite crime fighting team known as the WMSR Music Directors. In addition to being on the board at WMSR he is also an RA in Mary Lyon Hall and a Campus Tour Guide (ask him something about Miami’s campus, he guarentees an accurate answer). He also enjoys listening and making music, and incorporating movie quotes into everyday conversation. |
Programming Director, Jose Mondragon: Jose enters his second and final year as programming director for WMSR as a man on a mission - deliver the station as fine a schedule as there could possibly be this year. His shows feature the big ol’ music collection he’s assembled (including the likes of Missy Higgins and Weird Al) and his smooth, ramble-prone voice. Away from WMSR, Jose makes monthly visits to Fiesta Charra and proudly tackles all sorts of video game goodness with his esteemed friend Ben. |

Promotions Director, Erika Hadley: Erika is a senior psychology major/pre-physical therapy student at Miami and your Promotions Director here at WMSR! She made her WMSR debut last year as a part of the dynamic Bethika duo on the hit radio show “The Finer Things Club,” which aired Wednesday nights from 9-10 p.m. When she’s not at WMSR, you can find Erika most anywhere on campus, be it playing some sweet intramural broomball defense at The Goggin, writing sports articles for The Student, puddle pulling with Kappa Delta Sorority, or singing alto II in Collegiate Chorale. Erika’s current interests include figuring out where she’s going to physical therapy school, attending Miami hockey games, napping, Team Eye-Woo Tommy Venture broomball, euchre, Lebanese food, competing, New Zealand, Steinkellers, pop-out birthday cards, and being overcommitted. Erika has also never lost a limbo contest in her life and has attended Space Camp seven times. |
Chief Engineer, Paul Sunderhaus: Paul takes care of the technical aspects of the station. So if you have something that just doesn’t sound right, the DJ computer is going on a rampage (Hasn’t happened yet but who knows!), or your afraid something may be broken or missing, let him know.
You can probably find Paul in Benton Hall since it’s essentially his second home with the WMSR studio being his third. Catch him and Chris Vazquez on their show The Chris and Paul Show which airs on Wednesdays this semester from 4 to 6. |
News Director, Lizzie Bourque: Lizzie is a senior Mass Communication major from Ann Arbor, Michigan and the head of all things WMSR News. She is a member of the Misfitz and Chi Omega and has played intramural ultimate frisbee with THE Tristan Chan - former WMSR General Manager. Lizzie is in love (openly) with Jason Mraz and the Detroit Red Wings and also enjoys a bevy of stuff ranging from mashed potatoes to Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream to Billy Joel and Ocean’s Eleven. She steps into the shoes of former News Director Wongles (aka Katie Morgan). |
Events Coordinator, Nick Anderson: Taking on a new role this year as the Events Coordinator for the station, Nick is a third year veteran on the WMSR board. In the past Nick has worked as the Business Manager of the station, but this year he is taking on a role in the front lines to shed some true light on the station and its amazing potential. He plans to work closely with Erika Hadley in creating events and promotions that highlight the incredible programming of the station. At Miami, Nick is a Mass Communications major, with interests in film and business. He is extremely sociable. He loves turtles, disc golf, artsy people and things, foreign films and languages, and taking everything in life to the extreme. |
Production Director, Emily Imes: The production director for WMSR, Emily is where to go when you want sweepers and liners for your show. Even when Emily is away from WMSR, she’s on the radio; during the summers, she works for WHIZ in Zanesville. Her hobbies include writing, doodling and going to amusement parks (she’s a roller coaster junkie). All this adds up to…yep, you guessed it; Emily seems to have NO free time. How does she fit it all in? |
Chief Designer, Chris George: Chris makes all of WMSR’s design work and promotional images. |
